Dear brothers and sisters,
the celebration of our Lord Jesus Christ’s Birth again confronts us with the mystery of God’s goodness towards mankind in the mystery of the Incarnation. The only begotten Son of God appears in a human body and receives that body and tests all its weaknesses and limitations. In the theological sense, we talk about the Church as a mystical body of Christ. This body of his also has its limitations and difficulties, but nevertheless, it is always a visible sign of Christ’s presence among His people.
This Christmas has a special meaning for the Ernakulam-Angamaly archdiocese which was 7. December to the addressee of a special message from the Holy Father, Pope Francis. In this message, the Holy Father in unambiguously and warm words called every believer layman, every consecrated person and especially every priest, to express his association with the Catholic Church by a visible sign, that is, by accepting and exercising a common way of celebrating the Holy Qurbana (liturgy) according to the decision of the synod. It’s not just about insisting on adherence to a certain rubric, but much more – about church unity.
The Holy Father quotes the words of St. Paul: “Do not shake the body of Christ, which is the Church, so that you do not eat and drink your condemnation (pores.) 1 Corinthians 11:29). “His words leave no room for doubt about the meaning of his message, which is also his command. In a special way, the Pope addresses priests and asks: “And you, priests, remember your ordination and the obligations you have accepted. Don’t separate yourself from the way of your Church, but walk with the synod, with your bishops.. Agree to put into practice what your synod prescribed. “
How can anyone still have any doubts or objections to such clear words! In the past, some people justified the rejection of Pope’s letters by saying the Holy Father was informed only in part, not entirely, that his words contained errors based on inaccurate information submitted by people who do not know or voluntarily present the entire pastoral reality of the Ernakulam-Angamala Archdiocese. Today, the Pope himself denies all these excuses with the words: “Carefully and over time I studied the reasons that have been put forward for years to convince you. And why did the Pope decide to send you a video message? He explains it himself: ” … so that no one has doubts about what the Pope thinks. “
Dear brothers and sisters, dear priests. The time has come when we can and must show – not with nice words, but with concrete deeds – our love for the Church, our love and loyalty to the Roman Bishop, Holy Father Francis. If we truly believe that the Lord Himself has entrusted His Apostle Peter and his successors to establish brothers in the faith, teach and lead God’s people, let us forsake the affinity of the local custom, a particular custom— however dear to us and find it deeply rooted and spiritually useful—and in Jesus’ name love for Christ and his Church let us all gladly do this act of our loyalty and obedience to the Holy Father. Those who love the Holy Father and the Church will surely follow Him without excuses and repeated consideration, with a sole purpose of justifying something that is no longer excusable.
This archiparchy, its laymen, priests and priests have always declared their love for the Pope, for the Church. Now is the time to show this love in a concrete and visible way, by accepting the decision of the Holy Father. The Lord will not forget to reward your, our generous obedience with His abundant graces.

നമ്മുടെ കർത്താവായ ഈശോമിശിഹായുടെ പിറവിത്തിരുന്നാൾ മനുഷ്യരാശിയോടുള്ള ദൈവസ്നേഹത്തിന്റെ രഹസ്യത്തിലേയ്ക്ക്‌ നമ്മെ ഒരിയ്ക്കൽക്കൂടി കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഏകജാതനായ പുത്രൻ മനുഷ്യശരീരം സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നു, ഈ ശരീരത്തിൽ സ്വയം വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു, അതിന്റെ എല്ലാ ബലഹീനതകളും പരിമിതികളും ഉൾക്കൊള്ളു ന്നു. ദൈവശാസ്ത്രപരമായ അർത്ഥത്തിൽ, മിശിഹായുടെ മൌതികശരീരം എന്നാണ്‌ സഭയെ നാം വിളിക്കുന്നത്‌. ഈ ശരീരത്തിനും അതിന്റേതായ പരിമിതികളും ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുകളുമുണ്ട്‌. എന്നിരുന്നാലും, ഇത്‌ എല്ലായ്പ്പോഴും മിശിഹായുടെ ജനത്തിനിടയിൽ അവന്റെ സാന്നി ദ്ധൃത്തിന്റെ ദൃശ്യമായ അടയാളമാണ്‌.

വളരെ വ്യക്തമായ ഈ വാക്കുകളിൽ ആർക്കെങ്കിലും സംശയമോ എതിർപ്പോ എങ്ങനെയുണ്ടാകും? മുൻകാലങ്ങളിൽ മാർപ്പാപ്പയുടെ കത്തുകൾ നിരസിച്ചതിനെ ന്യായീകരിച്ചു കൊണ്ട്‌ ആരൊക്കെയോ ഇങ്ങനെ പറയുന്നത്‌ കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്‌: ‘പരിശുദ്ധ പിതാവ്‌ ഇവിടത്തെ കാര്യങ്ങൾ വ്യക്തമായി മനസ്സിലാക്കാതെ എഴുതിയതാണവ. അതായത്‌ എറണാകുളം-അങ്കമാലി അതിരൂപതയിലെ മുഴുവൻ യാഥാർത്ഥ്യവും അറിയാതെ എഴുതിയതിനാൽ അവയിൽ ധാരാളം തെറ്റുകൾ കടന്നുകൂടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. അതുമല്ലെങ്കിൽ അറിഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ആരോ തെറ്റിദ്ധരിപ്പിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടാണ്‌ അദ്ദേഹം അവ അങ്ങനെ എഴുതിയത്’ തന്റെ സന്ദേശത്തിൽ മാർപാപ്പ തന്നെ ഈ തെറ്റിദ്ധാരണകൾ തിരുത്തുന്നുണ്ട്‌. “നിങ്ങളെ ബോധ്യപ്പെടുത്താനായി വർഷങ്ങളായി മുന്നോട്ടുവച്ച കാരണങ്ങൾ ഞാൻ ശ്രദ്ധാപൂർവ്വം സമയമെടുത്ത്‌ പഠിച്ചു.” എന്തുകൊണ്ടാണ്‌ നിങ്ങൾക്ക്‌ ഒരു വീഡിയോ സന്ദേശം അയയ്ക്കാൻ മാർപാപ്പ തീരുമാനിച്ചത്‌? അദ്ദേഹംതന്നെ അത്‌ വിശദീകരിക്കുന്നു. “കാരണം മാർപാപ്പ എന്താണ്‌ ചിന്തിക്കുന്നതെന്ന്‌ ഇനി ആർക്കും സംശയം വരാൻ ഇടയാകരുത്‌.”
പ്രിയ സഹോദരീസഹോദരന്മാരേ, പ്രിയ വൈദികരേ, സഭയോടുള്ള നമ്മുടെ സ്നേഹവും, റോമിലെ മെത്രാനായ ഫ്രാൻസിസ്‌ മാർപാപ്പയോടുള്ള നമ്മുടെ സ്നേഹവും വിശ്വസ്തതയും വാക്കുകളിലൂടെ മാത്രമല്ല, മറിച്ച്‌ ഉചിതമായ പ്രവർത്തികളിലൂടെയും നമുക്ക്‌ പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്നതും പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതുമായ സമയം വന്നുകഴിഞ്ഞു. സഹോദരങ്ങളെ വിശ്വാസത്തിൽ ഉറപ്പിക്കാനും പഠിപ്പിക്കാനും ദൈവജനത്തെ നയിക്കാനും കർത്താവ്‌ തന്റെ ശിഷ്യനായ പത്രോസിനെയും അവന്റെ പിൻഗാമികളെയും നിയോഗിച്ചുവെന്ന്‌ നാം യഥാർത്ഥത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. അങ്ങനെയെങ്കിൽ, മിശിഹായോടും അവന്റെ സഭയോടുമുള്ള സ്നേഹം ഒരു പ്രാദേശിക ആചാരത്തോടുള്ള അടുപ്പം ത്യജിക്കാൻ നമ്മെ ശക്തരാക്കേണ്ടതാണ്‌. അത്‌ നമുക്ക്‌ എത്ര പ്രിയപ്പെട്ടതാണെങ്കിലും, ആഴത്തിൽ നമ്മിൽ വേരുന്നിയതും ആത്മീയമായി ഉപയോഗ്രപ്രദവുമാണെങ്കിലും പരിശുദ്ധപിതാവിനോടുള്ള വിശ്വസ്തതയുടെയും അനുസരണത്തിന്റെയും അടയാളമായി ഈ പ്രവർത്തി നമുക്ക്‌ സന്തോഷത്തോടെ ചെയ്യാം. പരിശുദ്ധ പിതാവിനെയും സഭയെയും സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവർ ഒഴികഴിവുകളും ഒരിക്കലും ന്യായീകരിക്കാൻ സാധിക്കാത്ത പിടിവാശിയും ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്‌ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അനുസരിക്കും.
ഈ അതിരൂപതയും അതിലെ അത്മായരും സമർപ്പിതരും വൈദികരും എപ്പോഴും മാർപാപ്പയോടും സഭയോടുമുള്ള സ്നേഹം പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. പരിശുദ്ധ പിതാവിന്റെ തീരുമാനം അംഗീകരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്‌ ഈ സ്നേഹം ഉചിതമായും വ്യക്തമായും പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കേണ്ട സമയം വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. തന്റെ സമൃദ്ധമായ കൃപയാൽ നമ്മുടെ ഉദാരമായ അനുസരണ ത്തിന്‌ കർത്താവ്‌ പ്രതിഫലം തരും.
