റോമാ 9 : 30-33
വിശുദ്ധ പൗലോസ് ശ്ലീഹാ റോമാക്കാർക്കെഴുതിയ ലേഖനത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ള വായനഅപ്പോള്‍ നമ്മള്‍ എന്തു പറയണം?
നീതി അന്വേഷിച്ചു പോകാതിരുന്ന വിജാതീയര്‍ നീതി, അതായത്‌ വിശ്വാസത്തിലുള്ള നീതി, പ്രാപിച്ചു എന്നുതന്നെ.നിയമത്തിലധിഷ്‌ഠിതമായ നീതി അന്വേഷിച്ചുപോയ ഇസ്രായേലാകട്ടെ, ആ നിയമം നിറവേറ്റുന്നതില്‍ വിജയിച്ചില്ല.എന്തുകൊണ്ട്‌? അവര്‍ വിശ്വാസത്തിലൂടെയല്ല പ്രവൃത്തികളിലൂടെയാണ്‌ അന്വേഷിച്ചത്‌. ഇടര്‍ച്ചയുടെ പാറമേല്‍ അവര്‍ തട്ടിവീണു.ഇതാ! തട്ടിവീഴ്‌ത്തുന്ന കല്ലും ഇടര്‍ച്ചയ്‌ക്കുള്ള പാറയും സീയോനില്‍ ഞാന്‍ സ്‌ഥാപിക്കുന്നു. അവനില്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്കു ലജ്‌ജിക്കേണ്ടിവരുകയില്ല എന്ന് എഴുതപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
സുവിശേഷം ലൂക്കാ 1 : 21-25
വിശുദ്ധ ലൂക്കാ അറിയിച്ച നമ്മുടെ കർത്താവീശോമിശിഹായുടെ പരിശുദ്ധ സുവിശേഷംജനം സഖറിയായെ കാത്തുനില്‍ക്കു കയായിരുന്നു. ദേവാലയത്തില്‍ അവന് വൈകുന്നതിനെപ്പററി അവര്‍ അദ്‌ഭുതപ്പെട്ടു.പുറത്തുവന്നപ്പോള്‍ അവരോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നതിന്‌ സഖറിയായ്‌ക്കു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. ദേവാലയത്തില്‍വച്ച്‌ അവന് ഏതോ ദര്‍ശനമുണ്ടായി എന്ന് അവര്‍ മനസ്‌സിലാക്കി. അവന് അവരോട്‌ ആംഗ്യം കാണിക്കുകയും ഊമനായി കഴിയുകയും ചെയ്‌തു. തന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷയുടെ ദിവസങ്ങള്‍ പൂര്‍ത്തിയായപ്പോള്‍ അവന് വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോയി. താമസിയാതെ അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ എലിസബത്ത്‌ ഗര്‍ഭം ധരിച്ചു.
അഞ്ചു മാസത്തേക്ക്‌ അവള്‍ മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ മുമ്പില്‍ പ്രത്യക്‌ഷപ്പെടാതെ കഴിഞ്ഞുകൂടി. അവള്‍ പറഞ്ഞു: മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയില്‍ എനിക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്ന അപമാനം നീക്കിക്കളയാന്‍ കര്‍ത്താവ്‌ എന്നെ കടാക്‌ഷിച്ച്‌ എനിക്ക്‌ ഇതു ചെയ്‌തു തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have achieved it, that is, a righteousness that comes from faith; but that Israel, who pursued the law of righteousness, did not attain to that law? Why not? Because they did it not by faith, but as if it could be done by works. They stumbled over the stone that causes stumbling, as it is written: “Behold, I am laying a stone in Zion that will make people stumble and a rock that will make them fall, and whoever believes in him shall not be put to shame.”

The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, proclaimed by St. LukeMeanwhile the people were waiting for Zechariah and were amazed that he stayed so long in the sanctuary. But when he came out, he was unable to speak to them, and they realized that he had seen a vision in the sanctuary. He was gesturing to them but remained mute. Then, when his days of ministry were completed, he went home. After this time his wife Elizabeth conceived, and she went into seclusion for five months, saying, “So has the Lord done for me at a time when he has seen fit to take away my disgrace before others.”
