Pray for the Success of the Synod
— Pro Life Global Fellowship
Kochi, August 16: The Pro Life Global Fellowship has appealed to its members and well-wishers to offer special prayers for the successful completion of the Synod of the Syro-Malabar Major Archiepiscopal Church, being held from August 17 to 28, and for the Synod to provide a stronger and clearer direction for the future mission of the Church.
The Fellowship expressed the hope that the Synod, being held at Mount St. Thomas, Kakkanad, would lead to decisions that further strengthen the faith life, pastoral mission and social commitment of the Church.
The Syro-Malabar Church, the second-largest Eastern Catholic Church in the universal Catholic Church, has an active presence in different parts of the world. With more than five million faithful, the distinctive strength of the Church lies not only in its global presence, but also in the dedicated participation of its clergy, religious and laity in the faith and mission of the Church.
The various faith-based, social welfare and charitable movements that bear an effective Christian witness in the Church and society, together with thousands of committed and zealous lay missionaries, are among the great strengths of the Syro-Malabar Church. The faithful actively engaged in different countries play a significant role in promoting the faith, traditions and evangelizing mission of the Church.
The Pro Life Global Fellowship urged the Synod to provide clear direction for strengthening pro-life ministries from the parish level, ensuring the comprehensive protection of human life from conception to natural death, and for expanding Jeevasamrudhi ministries in society through cooperation among different Churches and religious communities.
The Fellowship also called for the formulation of more effective patient-care programmes for the sick and those experiencing suffering, and for strengthening the Church’s charitable ministries in areas such as family protection, maternal and child care, care of the elderly, palliative care and the welfare of persons with disabilities. It further urged the formulation of new action programmes in these areas.
The Pro Life Global Fellowship called for effective decisions by the Synod to further strengthen the growing and dedicated participation of the laity, encourage families and young people to take a more active role in the mission of the Church, and expand the Church’s social commitment and charitable activities.
The Fellowship expressed the hope that the Synod would take decisions that further strengthen the unity of the Church, witness of faith, pastoral ministry, protection of human life, social commitment, charitable service and the Church’s global evangelizing mission.

Synodal Session of Syro-Malabar Church Begins”
The second session of the 34th Synod of Bishops of the Syro-Malabar Major Archiepiscopal Church commenced on August 17, 2026, at Major Archiepiscopal Curia, Mount St. Thomas, Kakkanad. The session was inaugurated by the Major Archbishop Mar Raphael Thattil, the Father and Head of the Syro-Malabar Church, with the lighting of the lamp.

കൊച്ചി, ആഗസ്റ്റ് 16: ആഗസ്റ്റ് 17 മുതൽ 28 വരെ നടക്കുന്ന സീറോ-മലബാർ മേജർ ആർക്കിഎപ്പിസ്കോപ്പൽ സഭയുടെ സിനഡ് സമ്മേളനം വിജയകരമായി പൂർത്തിയാകുന്നതിനും സഭയുടെ ഭാവി ദൗത്യങ്ങൾക്ക് കൂടുതൽ ശക്തമായ ദിശാബോധം ലഭിക്കുന്നതിനുമായി പ്രൊ ലൈഫ് ഗ്ലോബൽ ഫെലോഷിപ്പ് പ്രവർത്തകർ പ്രത്യേകം പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കണമെന്ന് പ്രൊ ലൈഫ് ഗ്ലോബൽ ഫെലോഷിപ്പ് ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്തു.
കാക്കനാട് മൗണ്ട് സെന്റ് തോമസിൽ നടക്കുന്ന സിനഡ് സമ്മേളനം സഭയുടെ വിശ്വാസജീവിതത്തെയും അജപാലന ദൗത്യത്തെയും സാമൂഹിക പ്രതിബദ്ധതയെയും കൂടുതൽ ശക്തിപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന തീരുമാനങ്ങൾക്ക് വഴിയൊരുക്കട്ടെയെന്ന് പ്രൊ ലൈഫ് ഗ്ലോബൽ ഫെലോഷിപ്പ് ആശംസിച്ചു.
സാർവത്രിക കത്തോലിക്കാ സഭയിലെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ വലിയ പൗരസ്ത്യ കത്തോലിക്കാ സഭയായ സീറോ-മലബാർ സഭയ്ക്ക് ലോകത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ സജീവമായ സാന്നിധ്യമുണ്ട്. 50 ലക്ഷത്തിലധികം വിശ്വാസികളുള്ള സഭയുടെ സവിശേഷത ആഗോള സാന്നിധ്യത്തോടൊപ്പം വിശ്വാസത്തിലും സഭാദൗത്യത്തിലും സമർപ്പിതമായി പങ്കുചേരുന്ന വൈദികരും സമർപ്പിതരും അൽമായരുമാണ്.
സഭയിലും സമൂഹത്തിലും ഉത്തമ സാക്ഷ്യം നൽകുന്ന വിവിധ വിശ്വാസ, സാമൂഹ്യ ക്ഷേമ, കാരുണ്യ പ്രസ്ഥാനങ്ങളും, ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് തീക്ഷ്ണതയുള്ള അൽമായ പ്രേഷിതരും സീറോ-മലബാർ സഭയുടെ വലിയ ശക്തിയാണ്. ലോകത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ സജീവമായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന വിശ്വാസികൾ സഭയുടെ വിശ്വാസവും പാരമ്പര്യവും സുവിശേഷ ദൗത്യവും മുന്നോട്ടുകൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നതിൽ നിർണായക പങ്കുവഹിക്കുന്നു.
മനുഷ്യജീവന്റെ ഗർഭധാരണം മുതൽ സ്വാഭാവിക മരണം വരെയുള്ള സമഗ്ര സംരക്ഷണം ഉറപ്പുവരുത്തുന്ന പ്രൊ-ലൈഫ് ശുശ്രൂഷകൾ ഇടവകതലം മുതൽ കൂടുതൽ സജീവമാക്കുന്നതിനും, വിവിധ സഭകളുടെയും മതങ്ങളുടെയും സഹകരണത്തോടെ സമൂഹത്തിലെ ജീവസമൃദ്ധി ശുശ്രൂഷകൾ വിപുലമാക്കുന്നതിനും സിനഡ് ആവശ്യമായ ദിശാബോധം നൽകണമെന്ന് പ്രൊ ലൈഫ് ഗ്ലോബൽ ഫെലോഷിപ്പ് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു.
രോഗികളുടെയും അവശത അനുഭവിക്കുന്നവരുടെയും സംരക്ഷണത്തിനായി കൂടുതൽ ഫലപ്രദമായ രോഗിസംരക്ഷണ പദ്ധതികൾ രൂപപ്പെടുത്തുകയും, കുടുംബസംരക്ഷണം, മാതൃ-ശിശു പരിപാലനം, വയോജന സംരക്ഷണം, പാലിയേറ്റീവ് കെയർ, ഭിന്നശേഷിക്കാരുടെ ക്ഷേമം തുടങ്ങിയ മേഖലകളിൽ സഭയുടെ കാരുണ്യശുശ്രൂഷകൾ കൂടുതൽ ശക്തിപ്പെടുത്തുകയും പുതിയ കർമ്മ പരിപാടികൾ ആവിഷ്കരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യണമെന്ന് സംഘടന അഭ്യർത്ഥിച്ചു.
അൽമായരുടെ വർധിച്ചുവരുന്ന സമർപ്പിത പങ്കാളിത്തം കൂടുതൽ ശക്തിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിനും കുടുംബങ്ങളെയും യുവജനങ്ങളെയും സഭയുടെ ദൗത്യത്തിൽ സജീവമായി പങ്കാളികളാക്കുന്നതിനും സാമൂഹിക പ്രതിബദ്ധതയും കാരുണ്യ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളും വിപുലപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിനും സിനഡ് ഫലപ്രദമായ തീരുമാനങ്ങൾ കൈക്കൊള്ളണമെന്ന് പ്രൊ ലൈഫ് ഗ്ലോബൽ ഫെലോഷിപ്പ് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു.
സഭയുടെ ഐക്യം, വിശ്വാസസാക്ഷ്യം, അജപാലന ശുശ്രൂഷ, മനുഷ്യജീവന്റെ സംരക്ഷണം, സാമൂഹിക പ്രതിബദ്ധത, കാരുണ്യ പ്രവർത്തനം, ആഗോള സുവിശേഷ ദൗത്യം എന്നിവ കൂടുതൽ ശക്തിപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന തീരുമാനങ്ങൾ സിനഡിൽ ഉണ്ടാകട്ടെയെന്നും സംഘടന ആശംസിച്ചു.
മേജർ ആർക്കിഎപ്പിസ്കോപ്പൽ സിനഡിന്റെ വിജയത്തിനായി പ്രത്യേക പ്രാർത്ഥനകൾ നടത്തണമെന്നും, സിനഡിനെയും സിനഡ് പിതാക്കന്മാരെയും പ്രാർത്ഥനയിൽ പ്രത്യേകം സമർപ്പിക്കണമെന്നും പ്രൊ ലൈഫ് ഗ്ലോബൽ ഫെലോഷിപ്പ് പ്രവർത്തകരോട് ചെയർമാൻ സാബു ജോസ് അഭ്യർത്ഥിച്ചു.
