Today the Syro Malabar Church remembers one of its heroic and courageous figures who dedicated his life for his Church – Kudakkachira Mar Anthony Kathanar. He lived the spirituality of an authentic eastern monk and his life of holiness is a model to each one of us.
When Pala and nearby places was affected by Small Pox, he went out to serve the suffering and bury the dead. He loved his mother church ardently and it is evident from his desire to go to Baghdad to ask for a native bishop for the St Thomas Christians. He became ill and went to his heavenly father while he was in Baghdad. Let his prayers be a fortress to the Syro Malabar Church.
