കൊച്ചി: സീറോ മലബാര്‍ സഭയുടെ ഒരു പുത്രന്‍ കൂടി കത്തോലിക്കാസഭയില്‍ കര്‍ദിനാള്‍മാരുടെ ഗണത്തിലേക്കുയര്‍ത്തപ്പെടുന്നതു സഭയ്ക്കു മുഴുവന്‍ അഭിമാനവും സന്തോഷവുമെന്നു മേജര്‍ ആര്‍ച്ചുബിഷപ് മാര്‍ റാഫേല്‍ തട്ടില്‍. മോണ്‍. ജോര്‍ജ് കൂവക്കാടിനെ, സഭയുടെ വിശ്വസ്തപുത്രന്‍, ആത്മീയപിതാവ് എന്നീ നിലകളില്‍ മാര്‍പാപ്പ വിശ്വാസമര്‍പ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ, കര്‍ദിനാളെന്ന നിലയിലുള്ള എല്ലാ ശുശ്രൂഷകളും ദൈവാനുഗ്രഹനിറവുള്ളതാകട്ടെ എന്നു പ്രാര്‍ഥിക്കുകയും ആശംസിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
സീറോ മലബാര്‍ സഭയില്‍ നിന്ന് അഞ്ചാമത്തെ കര്‍ദിനാളിനെയാണു നമുക്കു ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഇന്ത്യയില്‍ നിന്ന് ആദ്യമായി ഒരു വൈദികന്‍ നേരിട്ടു കര്‍ദിനാളായി ഉയര്‍ത്തപ്പെടുന്നതിന്റെ അതുല്യമായ അഭിമാനം കൂടിയാണ് സഭയെ തേടിയെത്തിയത്.
വര്‍ഷങ്ങളായി അദ്ദേഹവുമായി അടുത്ത പരിചയവും സൗഹൃദവും പുലര്‍ത്താന്‍ അവസരം ലഭിച്ചു.
ചങ്ങനാശേരി അതിരൂപതയിലെ മാമ്മൂട് ഇടവകാംഗമായ മോണ്‍. കൂവക്കാട് 2006 മുതല്‍ വത്തിക്കാന്‍ നയതന്ത്ര കാര്യാലയത്തില്‍ സേവനം ചെയ്യുന്നുണ്ട്. 2020 മുതല്‍ മാര്‍പാപ്പയുടെ യാത്രകളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ചുമതലകളുമായി വത്തിക്കാനില്‍ ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്തുവരവേയാണു കര്‍ദിനാള്‍ സ്ഥാനത്തേയ്ക്കുള്ള പുതിയ നിയോഗം.
അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ എല്ലാ നിയോഗങ്ങളിലും ശുശ്രൂഷകളിലും ദൈവാനുഗ്രഹം സമൃദ്ധമായി ഉണ്ടാകട്ടെയെന്നു പ്രാര്‍ഥിക്കുന്നതായും മാര്‍ റാഫേല്‍ തട്ടില്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.
Syro-Malabar Church Extends Prayerful Wishes to the Newly Nominated Cardinal Msgr George Koovakad
Msgr George Koovakad from the Syro-Malabar Archeparchy of Changanacherry is elevated to the rank of Cardinals in the Catholic Church by Pope Francis. Msgr Koovakad joined the Vatican Diplomatic service in 2006. He served the Apostolic Nunciatures in Algeria, South Korea, Iran, Costa Rica and Venezuela. From 2020, he has been working at the Vatican State Secretariate, as the in-charge of the Papal travels around the world. Msgr George is a man of spiritual integrity and faithfulness to the Church. 51 year old new cardinal will be a dynamic presence in the universal church.
He will be created cardinal at the Consistory to be held on 8th of December 2024 at St. Peter’s Basilica. Syro-Malabar Church congratulates and extends prayerful wishes to the newly nominated Cardinal Msgr Koovakad.
