കൊച്ചി: മെഡിക്കല്‍ ടെര്‍മിനേഷന്‍ ഓഫ് പ്രഗ്നന്‍സി ആക്ട് രാജ്യത്ത് നിലവില്‍ വന്നിട്ട് 50 വര്‍ഷം പൂര്‍ത്തിയാകുന്ന ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 10ന് ഗര്‍ഭഛിദ്രത്തിന് വിധേയരായിട്ടുള്ള ഭ്രൂണാവസ്ഥയിലുള്ള ശിശുക്കളെ അനുസ്മരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ഭാരത കത്തോലിക്കാസഭ ദേശീയ വിലാപദിനമായി ആചരിക്കുന്നു.
ജീവന്റെ സംരക്ഷണം ഉറപ്പുവരുത്തേണ്ട സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ സംവിധാനങ്ങള്‍ ജീവന്‍ നശിപ്പിക്കുവാന്‍ നിയമം സൃഷ്ടിക്കുന്നത് നീചമാണെന്നും അതിനാല്‍തന്നെ ക്രൈസ്തവ സമൂഹം മരണസംസ്‌കാരത്തെ വെള്ളപൂശുന്ന ഈ നിയമത്തെ എതിര്‍ക്കുമെന്നും സിബിസിഐ ലെയ്റ്റി കൗണ്‍സില്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി ഷെവലിയാര്‍ അഡ്വ.വി.സി.സെബാസ്റ്റ്യന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.
ഗര്‍ഭഛിദ്രത്തിലൂടെ മരണപ്പെട്ട ശിശുക്കള്‍ക്കുവേണ്ടി ദിവ്യബലിയര്‍പ്പണം, പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥനാശുശ്രൂഷകള്‍, കരുണക്കൊന്ത, ഉപവാസം, രണ്ടു മിനിറ്റ് നേരം ദേവാലയങ്ങളില്‍ മരണമണിമുഴക്കല്‍, ബോധവല്‍ക്കരണ അനുസ്മരണ സമ്മേളനങ്ങള്‍, സാമൂഹ്യമാധ്യമ പ്രചരണ പരിപാടികള്‍ എന്നിവ ഇന്ത്യയിലുടനീളം ഇതിനോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് നടക്കും. ക്രൈസ്തവരുടെയിടയിലും പൊതുസമൂഹത്തിലും പ്രൊലൈഫ് ബോധവല്‍ക്കരണ പരിപാടികള്‍ ലെയ്റ്റി കൗണ്‍സില്‍ കൂടുതല്‍ സജീവമാക്കുമെന്നും വി.സി.സെബാസ്റ്റ്യന്‍ സൂചിപ്പിച്ചു.
Catholic Church Observes August 10 as Day of Mourning
New Delhi: Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) has suggested that August10, 2021 which marks the completion of fifty years since the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act was implemented, as Day of Mourning.
Consequent upon this legislation, millions of abortions have taken place in India during the past five decades, Cardinal Oswald Gracias, President of CBCI, indicated this in a circular to all Catholic Dioceses and faithful in India. It is to rouse the social conscience against abortion and pray for the numerous kids who lost their lives in pregnancy that the Church is organizing this observance including pro-life campaign, prayer meeting and various awareness programmes Cardinal Gracias stated.
In this connexion, Chevalier Adv. V.C. Sebastian, Secretary, CBCI Council for Laity appealed to the various Catholic organizations across the country to organize awareness programmes against abortion. He said that the 14 Regional Councils of the Laity Council would organize prayer meetings expressing sorrow and concern about the numerous abortions in our Country.
In 2015 itself 15.6 million abortions occurred in India. Since life is a unique gift of God, to destroy it in pregnancy is one of the cruellest deeds of man. Sebastian added that the Laity Council would take up pro-life programmes as a special mission and conduct awareness programmes and mass campaigns across the country against this inhuman atrocity.
