—കാത്തിരുപ്പിന്റെ 9 വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ —
വല്ലാര്‍പാടം കണ്ടയന്ര്‍ ടെര്‍മിനലിന് വേണ്ടി കുടിയിരക്കിയവര്‍ക്ക് ഇപ്പോഴും പുനരധിവാസം പൂര്‍ണ്ണമായി നലികിയിട്ടില്ല എന്ന സത്യം അധികാരികളെ വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും ഓര്‍മ്മിപ്പിക്കേണ്ട അവസ്ഥയിലേക്ക് എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
2008 ഫെബ്രുവരി 6 നടന്ന കുടിയിറക്കലിനെതിരെ ജനരോഷം ഉയര്‍ന്നപ്പോള്‍ അന്നത്തെ വരാപ്പുഴ അതിരൂപത ആര്‍ച്ച്ബിഷപ് ഡാനിയേല്‍ അച്ചരുപരംബില്‍, സഹായ മെത്രാന്‍ ജോസഫ് കാരിരിക്കശ്ശേരി എന്നിവര്‍ ചേര്‍ന്ന് വിളിച്ചുചേര്‍ത്ത ജാഗ്രത സമിതിയും ഒപ്പം ജനങ്ങള്‍ ചെരുത്തുനില്‍പ്പിനായി രൂപീകരിച്ച കോര്ടിനെഷന്‍ കമ്മിറ്റിയും എല്ലാവരും ഒത്തുചേര്‍ന്നു നടത്തിയ പരിശ്രമത്തെത്തുടര്‍ന്നു പുനരധിവാസ പാക്കേജ് പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കാന്‍ അധിക്കാരികള്‍ നിര്‍ബന്ധിതരായി. പിന്നീടു വന്ന ആര്‍ച്ച്ബിഷപ് ഫ്രാന്‍സിസ് കല്ലറക്കലും ഇടപെടല്‍ നടത്തി. പക്ഷെ 9 വര്ഷം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടും ഇന്നും അത് പൂര്‍ണമായി പ്രാവര്‍ത്തികമായിട്ടില്ല. കോര്ടിനെഷന്‍ കമ്മിറ്റി ഇപ്പോഴും സമരമുഖത്താണ്.
നിലവിലെ വരാപ്പുഴ ആര്‍ച്ച്ബിഷപ്പ് ജോസഫ് കളത്തിപ്പറപിലിന്റെ ഇടപെടലിലൂടെ വീണ്ടും വിഷയം സജീവമാകുന്നു. കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം ഈ വിഷയത്തില്‍ മറുപടി പറയാന്‍ അധികാരികളെ അദ്ദേഹം നിര്‍ബന്ധിതമാക്കി. പ്രശ്നം ഇനിയും നീണ്ടുപോയാല്‍ വീണ്ടും തെരുവില്‍ ഇറങ്ങേണ്ടിവരും..മനുഷ്യസ്നേഹികളൊക്കെ ഈ വിഷയത്തില്‍ ഒരുമിക്കട്ടെ….
PRESENT SITUATIONS. Only 43 families out of the 316 evicted have been able to construct houses on their own meager resources in the plots allotted to them.
II. Seven houses in three rehabilitation sites (including Moolampilly) have either tilted or developed tracks. This will be substantiated by an interim report being prepared by the PWD following a complaint by the co-ordination committee to the District Collector.
III. Of the seven rehabilitation sites identified Mulavukad, Moolampilly, Kothad, Vaduthala, Cheraneloor, Thuthiyoor and Vazhakkala – six are reclaimed from marshy swamps.
IV. More than 200 families- bulk of them Christians continue to suffer in alternate accommodation – sheds, leased and rented structures and FACT Quarters.
V. Since the title deed (Pattaya) of the awarded plots are non-transferable for 25 years, financial institutions (banks) are refusing to provide housing construction loan by pledging it.
VI. Because of the above-mentioned reasons families are apprehensive of building houses in the plots awarded.
VII. Even though seven years have elapsed since the ICTT project have been commissioned, not a single individual of these families have been provided employment.
VIII. The rent dues for the past three years have not been given.
IX. The 12% tax deducted violating the Govt. order from the meager compensation amount has still not been reimbursed.
X. The police case pending against the struggle committee leader has still not been withdrawn.
XI. Ever since the present Collector has taken office the “Monitoring Committee” headed by the District Collector with the PWD, KSEB, Water Authority, and NHAI as members is meeting once every month as mandated by the Govt. direction.
