About twelve years ago, I was preaching a Shalom Family Conference in Washington DC.

I was asked to preach on the immorality of gay unions and the gay political agenda based on the Scripture and the holy Tradition of the Church. Four ‘gay couples’ were present on that session.

Two of them came to meet me. We had quite a long conversation in which they shared how they nurtured gay orientation and finally ended up in gay civil union. I didn’t judge, but rather loved them. Yet I was sure that love without truth is pure sentimentality.

It supports and affirms us but keep us in denial about our flaws. As I loved them I helped them to come out of it. They decided to repent on their flaws. To make long story short, both married to good women, and they all are active in parish communities.

Afterthought: What one generation tolerates, the next generation will definitely endorse. Never destroy a fence until you understand why it was built there in the first place.
